Carl Johnson, a student at the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics, announced his decision to discontinue use of green hair dye in an emotional press conference last night. Said senior Carl Johnson, "I was kind of getting tired of townies laughing at me, and it was awkward at church." The decision stunned many close to Johnson, but some say that the change comes as no surprise. "[His] hair was going to go back to brown again soon if he [had not] dyed it again," said close friend Lewis Gunter. The change is expected to take place slowly over the next week, and if predictions are correct, his hair will be brown again as soon as next Monday. Carl's parents have not released an official statement yet, but sources inside the Johnson household believe they will approve of the change. Johnson was born with brown hair, but dyed it green the Thursday before the rafting trip, and re-dyed it the Monday evening following Hurricane Floyd. Some were initially shocked at the change, including Carl's mother. "If he really wants to disappoint his mother, he should have [married] a stripper," said Computer Science teacher Elizabeth Bunn. |
